South's Best BBQ
For decades, this scrappy spot has been a favorite of locals, students and barbecue lovers (not to mention notables like famed University of Alabama head football coach Paul Bear Bryant), and no wonder; it has some of the best barbeque around.
The small, white brick building has been stoking its pits to cook tasty ribs since namesake George Archibald Sr. and his wife opended it in 1962.
Now run by the third generation of the family, nothing has changed - the slabs of ribs are cooked over hickory, slapped with a thin, orange sauce. If you're looking for a variety of sides, this isn't the place - they offer white bread and Golden Flake potato chips, and a can of soda; but they don't want anything taking your attention away from thier delicious meat.
